The Waymo Logs Storage team owns the infrastructure for storing driven and simulated data of Waymo cars. Some of our responsibilities include:
Storage management aspects, including file formats, encodings, replication, rebalancing, integrity, durability, backends and APIs.
Dataset management aspects, including metadata, versioning, lifetime control, quotas and APIs for set/membership management.
Responsibility for overall storage cost. This includes tooling required for data curation, plus defining and implementing storage cost control policies spanning multiple Waymo teams.
In this hybrid role, you will report to a Software Engineering Manager
You will:
Develop new storage infrastructure features, according to Waymo priorities.
Build relationships with our partner teams to provide solutions spanning organizational boundaries.
Understand and improve the behavior of production systems, including instrumentation, bug fixes, provisioning, and reliability improvements.
Improve the automation, code health, technical debt and simplify the system.
Provide support for partners and clients.
You have:
5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
5+ years of experience working on large-scale distributed systems.
5+ years of experience driving collaboration across organizational boundaries.
Experience with C++ (3+ years active coding experiences ).
We prefer:
5+ years of experience building large-scale storage systems.
5+ years of experience building dataset management infrastructure.

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the role location or, if the role can be performed remote, the specific salary range for your preferred location, during the hiring process.
Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo's discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
