Job Details:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Permanent Regional Industrial Safety Specialist to join our dynamic team in the Manufacturing industry. This key role will focus on the implementation and improvement of safety measures within our manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will have a robust understanding of safety systems, machine design, technical plant engineering, and manufacturing engineering. This position requires a minimum of five years of experience in a similar role, with a preference for those who hold a Certified Machine Safety Expert certification.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety systems and procedures to ensure the safety of employees and compliance with regulatory standards including ISO 12100 and ISO 13849.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards, system failure modes, and potential breaches of operation.
  • Design and implement machine safety system designs to improve overall safety and efficiency.
  • Prepare technical reports, providing clear and concise recommendations and priority actions to improve safety performance levels.
  • Participate in machine commissioning and Lockout Tagout procedures, ensuring all safety measures are adhered to.
  • Develop and manage the safety budget, including capex planning, to ensure resources are effectively utilized.
  • Work closely with the manufacturing engineering team to ensure the safe design and operation of machinery.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses, identifying and mitigating machine hazards.
  • Liaise with various departments, providing expert advice on safety systems, machine design, and potential safety improvements.
Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the Manufacturing industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Proven experience in safety systems, machine design, manufacturing engineering, and technical plant engineering.
  • Expertise in machine safety system design, including knowledge of system failure modes and potential breaches of operation.
  • Proficiency in budget planning and capex management.
  • Experience in machine commissioning and Lockout Tagout procedures.
  • Knowledge of ISO 12100, ISO 13849, and other relevant safety standards.
  • Familiarity with machine control systems and PLC systems.
  • Ability to prepare and present detailed technical reports, including recommendations and priority actions.
  • Certified Machine Safety Expert certification is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with various departments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
