Associate Casualty Claims Adjuster
SUMMARY
Entry level position to adjust first and third-party claims involving complex losses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete the claims training program through classroom study, hands on training, and independent study. The training program lasts approximately six months but is determined on a case by case basis.
Investigate, evaluate, and conclude casualty claims of complex nature. Adjustment of losses in excess of $5,000 required.
Aptitude for first and third-party claims.
Collaborate with teammates to effectively navigate claims.
Investigate and evaluate coverage issues.
Consistently support company, departmental, and managerial decisions through positive interpretation, application and communication of company information and policies to fellow employees, agents, and customers.
Perform special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES
Must be coachable and learn from constructive criticism.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills required.
Sound judgement and problem-solving skills required.
Excellent computer skills required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, company manuals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
EDUCATION &/OR EXPERIENCE
College Bachelor's degree preferred. Consideration will be given to applicants with an associate's degree. Work experience in the property/casualty insurance industry is preferred but not required.
Individuals and who have demonstrated a desire to learn through the completion of various IIA/CPCU or other recognized industry courses desired.
Continued learning through additional courses may be required by the Manager.
